How the MCAT is scored

The MCAT has four sections, each scored on a scale from 118 to 132 (midpoint 125). The four sections are Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS), Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. Your total score is the sum of all four sections, giving a range of 472 to 528 (midpoint 500).

There is no curve. The AAMC scales and equates scores so that a given scaled score represents the same level of proficiency regardless of which test date you took. This means your score reflects what you know relative to a fixed standard, not how you compared to other test-takers on the same day. Because the raw-to-scaled conversion can vary slightly between administrations, the AAMC does not publish one fixed raw-score chart — this calculator works from your actual reported section scores.

Percentiles are recalculated every May 1 based on the prior three testing years. The percentile tables on this page are effective 1 May 2026 through 30 April 2027. They tell you what percentage of test-takers scored below a given total or section score. For example, a total of 509 corresponds to the 76th percentile, meaning roughly 76% of test-takers scored below 509.

How these percentiles are calculated

These percentiles are based on all MCAT results from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 testing years combined (305,494 total scores) and update every May 1.
