How the LSAT is scored

The current LSAT consists of four 35-minute multiple-choice sections: three are scored and one is an unscored variable section used to pretest questions for future test forms. You also complete a separate, unscored LSAT Argumentative Writing sample on your own schedule. Only the three scored sections determine your final score.

The LSAT score scale runs from 120 to 180. Your raw score — the number of questions you answered correctly across the three scored sections — is converted to a scaled score through a process called equating. This conversion varies slightly by test administration, so LSAC does not publish one fixed raw-score-to-scaled-score chart that applies to every test date. This calculator works from your actual reported scaled score (the 120–180 number you receive on your score report) to show where it sits nationally in terms of percentile rank.

The percentile table below reflects LSAC's published percentile data across the 2023–2024 through 2025–2026 testing years. A percentile tells you what percentage of test-takers scored below a given scaled score. For example, a 160 corresponds to the 71st percentile, meaning roughly 71% of test-takers scored below 160.

No single raw-to-scaled chart

LSAC does not publish a single official ‘number correct = this score’ chart that applies to every test date — the conversion is calibrated slightly differently each administration. If you're estimating from a practice test, use the scoring table that came with that specific test.
